Mortgage Academy · Renewals

Treat renewal as a decision window.

Before accepting a renewal offer, review the next term against your plans, payment comfort, flexibility, and total cost.

Renewal is not an automatic signature.

A renewal offer reflects one lender’s proposed next step. It does not necessarily show every option available to you, and accepting quickly can remove time that would otherwise be used to compare term, rate type, payment, and flexibility.

Your next term should match your next decision.

Consider whether you may move, refinance, make a large payment, change your income structure, or need more flexibility. A mortgage that fits today’s payment may not fit the decision you expect to make next year.

Ask for clarity before the deadline.

Read the offer, identify the renewal date, understand the consequences of changing lenders, and request explanations for any fee, restriction, or feature that is unclear. A short review can prevent a long and expensive mismatch.
